- There is no fee as of 2023 to download the electronic version of the Bu Sa Bom Instructor Certification Study Kit.
All students who are Kyo Sa Certified and who are planning to apply for Ko Dan Ja rank in the future are required to download and complete the Bu Sa Bom Instructor Certification Study Kit, apprenticeship and all other requirements at least one year in advance of a targeted Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa.
3rd Dan KDJSS candidates, 4th Dan and up students who are age 21 up and who are Kyo Sa Certified are eligible to test for Bu Sa Bom.
Any rank student can acquire a Bu Sa Bom Instructor Certification Study Kit at any time.
Students are required to download and complete the Bu Sa Bom Certification Study Kit at least one year in advance of a targeted Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa and meet all other requirements to be eligible to test for Bu Sa Bom.
Or Kyo Sa certified students may optionally choose to acquire and complete the Sa Bom Instructor Certification Study Kit and fulfill those apprenticeship time requirements before applying for Ko Dan Ja rank.
After a student has completed the Bu Sa Bom study kit contents, apprenticeship training, and fulfilled the time requirement, then the Bu Sa Bom exam is conducted by appointed Technical Advisory Committee members at an annual Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa.
Candidates successfully completing the exam, exit the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa with the HONORARY title of Bu Sa Bom.
No certificate is issued.
Members in good standing who have earned the HONORARY title of Bu Sa Bom may convert it to CERTIFIED Instructor status and receive a Bu Sa Bom Certificate, rocker tabs and official documentation of certification on their permanent member record by:
- Activating a Background Check and Continuing Education Subscription on the Soo Bahk Do Institute
- Acquiring a Bu Sa Bom Instructor Certification Accreditation Kit
Officially issued Bu Sa Bom accreditation credentials are delivered to the applicant's recommending instructor for ceremonial presentation.
