In this educational seminar open to all WMDK Certified Instructors, participants will learn how to structure a Jo Kyo Apprenticeship Program. This informative seminar will be presented by Brian Corrales, Sa Bom Nim 6th Dan, USA Technical Advisory Committee Member,Â
You will leave with an improved understanding of how to strengthen your school, inspire, educate and motivate future Jo Kyo to meet Moo Duk Kwan® standards and be effective in their new role.
Class Description
The Jo Kyo Certification Study Kit outlines the expectations of performance achieved primarily through an instructor-led mentoring program. Some instructors have voiced a desire to receive training on how to effectively create a mentoring program for prospective Jo Kyo. The content of this class should spark creativity within the participants so they can create their own mentoring program.
Who Can Attend?
Studio owners and certified instructors, specifically Kyo Sa, Bu Sa Bom, Sa Bom. Officials and other senior members are encouraged to attend to support the instructor certification process.
Class Outcomes
This class will provide baseline topics and procedures to build a successful Jo Kyo program in each Moo Duk Kwan dojang so we lay a strong foundation for future Kyo Sa and Sa Bom candidate capabilities and success in the future. It is not intended to standardize the mentoring process. During the class instructors will:
- Gain confidence and competence in operating a mentoring program for prospective Jo Kyo.
- Practice developing the necessary skills required for Jo Kyo.
- Be inspired to encourage their younger students to attain Jo Kyo that increases student motivation and promotes school growth.
Class Outline
- Discuss the expectations of Jo Kyo and the benefits gained by the student and instructor.
- Demonstrate an example of how you can teach how to provide students experiences to become competent at:
- Warming up and cooling down the class, including moo do huri warm ups.
- Calling basic commands in class with strong moo do presence.
- Showing a strong demonstration.
- Class management.
- Outline an example of how you may test students for Jo Kyo to help them feel a sense of accomplishment and ensure proper skill competency.
