2023 KDJSS Venues Comparison

The following facilities have been suggested by members for consideration to host the 2023 Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa.

One factor that is being debated is whether to continue the hotel style venue that provides private lodging and private bath rooms or to return to the camp style venue with group sleeping quarters and shared bath rooms and showers.

KDJSS  attendee registrations for King rooms and the privacy they provide have been the most popular option even though priced higher. The median age of attendees has increased and I suggest it is prudent to consider what member registration choices tell us about the preferences of those who choose to participate.

  • is there a price difference in camp style versus private room? if so, what is that? I would recommend going camp style as part of the KDJSS experience to make candidates work together as a team. the camp/bunk style highly fosters that.

  • Thank you Duncan SBN,
I believe we have seen an increase in attendance with a preference for King rooms, so I recommend we stick with what is working.
I also agree that we are past the point of changing the schedule too much. People have already arranged vacation/family plans around the expectation of early to mid November.
Assuming both November venues have Regional support, I recommend Tulsa or Salt Lake/Homestead. I lean towards Tulsa as it’s a venue we already know and they know our needs and expectations after last year…
    Respectfully, Jen Rupert
