U.S. Military Membership Program
During the 08/24/2011 meeting of the 501c4 Board of Directors of the U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation, the Board accepted and adopted the U.S. Military Membership Program as proposed by Sa Bom Nim Bill Nelson of the Technical Advisory and author of “Your Weapon Within.” Sa Bom Nim Bill Nelson proposed the Federation offer free memberships to all military personnel in recognition of their service to our country and that Certified Studio Owners be encouraged to consider offering free or discounted training opportunities to Military Personnel for the same reason. A few American Servicemen began teaching Hwang Kee’s martial art system after returning to the U.S. during the 1960′s. There were also many Korean instructors certified by Kwan Jang Nim who began teaching in the United States during this period. Kwan Jang Nim believed that a Moo Duk Kwan organization was needed in the United States and asked for a meeting with all Dan Members. This meeting was held on November 29, 1974 in Burlington, New Jersey where a “Task Force” was elected for the purpose of developing a charter.
